Frequently Asked Questions
Does Teeth Whitening Really Work?
Over the years the compounds from food, coke, tea, coffee and tobacco settle into the teeth pores and cause discolouration of the tooth enamel. The teeth whitening process removes this discoloration and staining to reveal a whiter tooth. Almost all natural teeth respond to the process, including teeth stained by tetracycline, speckled by fluoride or hereditary discoloration. The proof with this treatment is instant!
How Long Does The Treatment Take?
Treatments takes 1 hour to deliver that perfect smile, however we allow approx 1h30minutes per appointment in order to complete a pre treatment review, shade review and provide aftercare advice.
Is It Safe?
Vast amounts of research have been carried out into the safety of teeth whitening and this is a continuing process. We use an Activation spray and Sodium Perborate to perform our teeth whitening, these are proven to be gentler on the teeth and enamel than hydrogen peroxide gels. All our treatments are supplied from the USA and are 100% safe and legal. All treatments are FDA (Food and Drug Association) and CE (Communaute Europeenne) approved.
Can Anyone Have Their Teeth Whitened?
Pregnant or breastfeeding women or clients under 16 years of age should not receive the Diamond Teeth Whitening treatment. We would also not treat people with known allergies to peroxide products as a precautionary measure.
How White Will My Teeth Get?
After undergoing teeth whitening the teeth shades can brighten between five (5) to fourteen (14) shades, with an average improvement of eight (8) shades. Although individual results will depend of how discoloured the teeth were originally, the end result will be whiter, shinier teeth!
How Long Will The Whitening Last?
This generally varies from person to person and is affected by lifestyle and diet. However the effects usually last in the region of 1yr to 18months. Periodic touch-up treatments are recommended for clients who frequently consume coffee or other staining foods and drinks, or for those who use tobacco products.
Will It Whiten My Existing Crowns Or Veneers?
Whitening treatments in general cannot change the colour of porcelain crowns, veneers or fillings, however it will remove staining that has built up and take them back to their original colour.
Is There Anything I Need To Do Before My Appointment?
It is advisable that you have had a scale and polish and a dental examination by a dentist within the last 6 months and that all dental work is up to date.
Will The Treatment Hurt?
Clients will not experience any pain or sensitivity during the treatment. As we use a non peroxide product they will not suffer the post treatment sensitivity common with hydrogen peroxide treatments.
